Fano
Fano
is one of the prettiest towns in the Marches, set in the
heart of the
Metauro valley, at the exact point at which the Via Flaminia -
one of the great Roman roads - came to an end.

Fontana of Fortuna
In
those days the town was called Fanum Fortunae the Temple of
Fortuna and today there are still parts of Fano that bear
witness to the glory of its past, and which are well worth a
visit in themselves.

For
anyone travelling from Umbria or Tuscany, Fano is the natural
point of arrival at the Adriatic. But it's also an ideal meeting
point for anyone coming up the Adriatic coast from southern or
central Italy, or anyone heading south along the coast from the
northern regions.
